What Is an Investor Password?
An Investor Password is a read-only password for your MT5 trading account.
It allows someone to:
- View open and closed trades
- Monitor account performance
- See account balance and history
However, it does not allow placing or modifying trades.
How to Set an Investor Password in MT5 (Desktop)
There are two ways to change or set your Investor Password in MT5 Desktop.
Method 1: Using the Navigator Panel
- Open the MT5 platform.
- Click View → Navigator (or press Ctrl+N).
- In the Navigator window, locate your account under Accounts.
- Right-click your account and select Change Password.
- Enter your current Master Password.
- Select Change investor (read-only) password.
- Enter and confirm your new Investor Password.
- Click OK.
Method 2: Using the Tools Menu
- Open MT5.
- Click Tools → Options.
- Go to the Server tab.
- Click Change next to the Password field.
- Enter your current Master Password.
- Select Change investor (read-only) password.
- Enter and confirm your new Investor Password.
- Click OK.
How to Set an Investor Password in MT5 (Mobile)
For iOS (iPhone / iPad)
- Open the MT5 app.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Manage Accounts.
- Select your trading account.
- Tap Change Investor Password.
- Enter your Master Password.
- Set and confirm the new Investor Password.
For Android
- Open the MT5 app.
- Tap the menu icon (three lines).
- Select Manage Accounts.
- Choose your account.
- Tap the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Select Change Investor Password.
- Enter your Master Password and set the new Investor Password.
Important
- Your Master Password gives full trading access.
- Your Investor Password provides read-only access.
- Always use a strong, unique password to protect your account.
