Auto-archiving is a system process where inactive MT5 trading accounts are automatically archived after a certain period of inactivity.
This helps maintain platform efficiency and optimize data management.
Archived accounts are not deleted — they are simply moved to an archived status.
Auto-Archiving Rules for MT5 Accounts
Live MT5 Accounts
A Live MT5 account may be automatically archived under the following conditions:
30 days of inactivity with a balance of $20 or less
If you have not logged in to your MT5 account for 30 consecutive days and the account balance is $20 or below, the account may be archived.
10 days of inactivity with zero balance
If you have not logged in for 10 consecutive days and your account balance is $0, the account may be archived.
Demo MT5 Accounts
Demo accounts do not follow the same archiving rules as live accounts.
However:
- Demo accounts remain active for 30 days after creation
- After that period, they may be automatically deleted
How to Prevent Your Account from Being Archived
To keep your account active, make sure that:
- You log in to your MT5 account periodically
- Your balance remains above the minimum threshold if you plan to remain inactive
Regular platform access helps prevent automatic archiving.
What Happens When an Account Is Archived?
When a trading account is archived:
- The account will no longer appear in the standard account list
- You will not be able to trade from the archived account
- All account data is safely stored and can be restored if needed
Archived accounts can be re-activated upon request.
What Happens to Pending Orders?
If an account with pending orders becomes archived:
- All pending orders may be automatically cancelled
- If the account is later restored, those pending orders will not be reinstated
Important Note
If an archived account is restored, you may be required to:
- Log in to the trading account
- Or fund the account within a specified period
Otherwise, the account may be archived again.
